How to Play Marathon 2 Maps
with Marathon Infinity
by The Editor

Playing Marathon 2 Maps with Marathon Infinity has to be one of the simplest things to do in Marathon, but you may not know some of it, so I'll guide you through it step by step.

1. Start up your Marathon 2 map with Forge.

2. Using Forge, remove ALL zero length lines, and other problems, junk data, etc. This will allow you to play the maps without a crashing problem. However, alot of the maps made with Pfhorte have problems when imported to Forge, so you
might want to nuke & pave the map. If you do this, you'll have to rebuild the whole thing except for polygons, so I say take your chances and only do it if necessary.

3. Make a copy of your Infinity Shapes file and open it with Anvil.

4. Open your Marathon 2 Shapes file with Anvil.

5. Go to the wall textures sections of each shapes file.

6. Copy and paste all of the Marathon 2 shapes on top of their corresponding Marathon
shapes. (I have a patch file that does this already w/o error, but I doubt I could distribute it legally, that's why you have to make your own).

7. Save your patched Infinity shapes file.

8. Open Marathon
and select the patched shapes file for use in the prefs.

9. While doing Step #8, select your Marathon 2 map as the map file.

10. Start a new game with the Marathon 2 maps, and if everything looks exactly like it's from Marathon 2, you've been successful!

11. Select your map which you have converted to Infinity with Forge as the map file.

12. Start a new game and have fun!
